the guys at tieline are putting a little blurb together about the broadcast, and gave the beasty a review in the itunes store, currently working on fixng the apn issue on the iphone itself, this is related to the way carriers remove the issue of users being able to set the apn from ie telstra.iph to telstra.internet, i am testing a fix atm and will update on how it goes, this relates to data charges etc, unforutnatley the last carrier update for telstra 5.2 removes the abilty to edit youre apn i have a copy of 5.1 and i am testing a rollback at the moment, but where theres a will there is a way;), with a jailbrocken iphone this is easy but with a bog standard locked iphone its not as easy

Hi Keith,

I am pretty sure we can get around the APN issue with a custom profile. I will have a iPhone team create a telstra.iph and a telstra.internet profile today. You can load either depending which one you wish to use. I will post more after testing complete.

Cheers,

Neil M.

ok new out of the box still has 5.1 which means tethhering and apn editing is enabled, now if you plug into itunes it will want to update carrier settings...hit CANCEL, now for those who screwed up and updated this is how to roll back
Windows 32 Bit:
1.   Close iTunes.
2. Go to Start then Run and type CMD.
3. Run this command(If you right-click on the cmd window you can paste): “C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe” /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1
2.   I actually navigated to the iTunes folder though the command line and typed : iTunes.exe /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1

Copying the IPCC file to your iPhone:

The above steps will allow you to update the IPCC using iTunes 9+. To copy the IPCC file to your iPhone follow these instructions:
1.   Open iTunes & plug in your phone.
2. Click on your phone in iTunes(under device settings).
3. Windows Users: hold shift and click “Check for updates”.  MAC OS X: hold alt and click “Check for updates”.
4. Select the IPCC you downloaded earlier.
2.   Reboot
this is 5.1 that is signed and will allow rollback

, there are other ipcc files for other carriers, importantly any phones runnin 3+ firmware need these files to be signed if the iphone is networked locked, if unlocked you can browse in saffri on the iphone to here
unlockit.co.nz
which will do it online for you

Thanks for the post Keith, I am sure that some of our users will find that information very useful. It will be interesting to hear if other people have similar problems with other carriers.

just a quick bug report with 2.2, when you have the iphone inverted and you want to change modes the gui is still normal way so little inconvienent if you are operating on the run between modes, otherwise awsome update

Thanks for the report Keith, I will personally attend to this one right now and hopefully get it sorted for the next update. Looks like it is a side-effect of the Cancel button fix in 2.2.

I hope you will enjoy version 2.3 just as much when it is ready - it will have a special new feature  :)
