Tieline Technology is pleased to announce that Report-IT version 2.2 is now available for purchase or update from the iTunes App Store.

Changes in this release include:
  • Report-IT now supports setting the session and audio ports via a new Configuration->Advanced screen.
  • Additional, higher quality 33.6Kbps and 64Kbps bit rates now supported to provide even higher quality audio.
  • Adjusted PPM scale. See http://support.tieline.com/support/users/What-are-the-PPM-meters-displaying/10020/
  • Monitor Input now default to off - note. Tieline suggests that existing users set this to off to avoid echo when earphones are not in use.

Hi Darrel,

Thank you for your query.

There are many reasons why the Apple iPhone is the platform of choice for Report-IT. Tieline has diligently conducted research into many of today's popular smart phones, but to date, our tests show that none of them have the same comparable audio quality, capabilities, and general stability (both handset & OS) to the iPhone that can be considered good enough for professional broadcasting quality.

Having said this, we are of course monitoring the advancements of other manufacturers, and if/when the time comes, we would certainly consider continuing work on another platform if the demand was present, however we cannot see this happening anytime in the near future based purely on current technologies.

Another benefit of the iPhone platform is that Apple have a very strict review policy for Apps and perform their own rigorous testing to ensure the stability and performance of the iPhone is maintained. This adds to Tieline's already strict QA processes to give our customers even further confidence in Report-IT for professional use. All other smartphone platforms to date are completely unregulated.

The Report-IT team here at Tieline has been working on bringing many new features to Report-IT. In the coming weeks, we expect to have a new feature-packed version of Report-IT Live up on the App Store for update and purchase. In the meantime, we have put a free little preview of some of the coming features on the App Store in the form of a new free variant of Report-IT called Report-IT Lite.

A sample of some new features you will find in this preview are:
  • The ability to display you own (or station) logo and a byline while you are reporting live or recording a report. Perfect for those media scrums so everybody can see who you are and where you are from when using Report-IT to capture that media conference. Any image from your iPhone's photo library can be zoomed and cropped for display as a 320x320 image from within Report-IT. See the Logo option in the Configuration screen.
  • You can now organise your recorded reports into sortable playlists that can be used during a live cross to insert pre-recorded material. Once you have created a playlist (or choose to use one of the standard system playlists), simply select it, connect and start your broadcast and when you are ready, start playing back recorded reports at the press of a button. Your mic will automatically cut out/in when playback starts/ends. Report-IT Lite allows you to try this out by providing you with the ability to pre-record up to 2 reports at a maximum of 1 minute each.
  • And finally, for all our french speaking customers: Report-IT est aussi disponible en français!
Of course, there are many more new and very useful features coming in Report-IT Live 2.3.1. There are some spoilers for these at http://support.tieline.com/report-it/features/ but it won't be too much longer before we can provide more details... and more importantly - make it available. In the meantime, we encourage you to get Report-IT Lite for free from the App Store, try it out and tell all your colleagues to do the same. Make sure you register it to get one free hour of Live Time.

Note: Report-IT Lite is a separate version of Report-IT Live that is a feature limited release. Recording capabilities are provided specifically for evaluation purposes and it is recommended that any recording capabilities should not be used for real reports. However live reporting capabilities are fully functional and do provide a cost effective means to distribute Report-IT to those that very infrequently broadcast live back to a studio codec. Live reporting is subject to the same In-App Live Time purchase requirements as Report-IT Live, however there is NO Unlimited Live Time option available for Report-IT Lite. It should also be noted that any recordings or purchased Live Time are non-transferrable to Report-IT Live.

Report-IT Live 2.3.1 is now available for upgrade/purchase from the Apple App Store.

Report-IT Live 2.3.1 is packed with new features that make Tieline's multi-award winning Professional Broadcast Codec in your pocket even better:
  • Report-IT Live is now fully integrated with iPhone Contacts. You can now add your codec's URL to a new or existing contact as well as browse and select a codec from your Contacts - all from within Report-IT Live app. Alternately you can launch Report-IT directly from the Contacts app.
  • Report-IT Live also comes with a Favourites feature. Report-IT Live allows you to add the URLs of the codecs you commonly connect to into a Favourites list - it is now even simpler and faster to connect to your codecs.
  • Email, sms, or provide hyperlinks on a web page to codec URLs to launch (and optionally connect on launch) Report-IT live to use a specific codec. So all your talent has to do now is simply touch a hyperlink sent from the studio and they are on the air reporting live!
  • Animated connection status and recoding indicators are now available in the status bar on all Report Live & Record A Report screens.
  • You can now display you station (or own) logo and a byline while you are reporting live or recording a report. Perfect for those media scrums so everybody can see who you are and where you are from when using Report-IT to capture that media conference. Any image from your iPhone's photo library can be zoomed and cropped for display as a 320x320 image from within Report-IT. See the Logo option in the Configuration screen.
  • Organise your recorded reports into sortable playlists that can be used during a live cross to insert pre-recorded material. Once you have created a playlist (or choose to use one of the standard system playlists), simply select it, connect and start your broadcast and when you are ready, start playing back recorded reports at the press of a button. Your mic will automatically cut out/in when playback starts/ends.
  • Specify the start and end points in a recorded report to be used when playing back a report into a live broadcast. From the Manage Reports screen, simply select your Report then from within the the Play Report screen, mark start and stop points to non-destructively top and tail your content.
  • For all our french speaking customers: Report-IT est aussi disponible en français!
  • Report-IT also now comes in 3 simple package options to suit your budget & needs. See the Report-IT Features page for further details.
  • Report-IT Professional (In-App purchase. See Upgrade option in Configuration screen) provides unlimited live time and the ability to FTP your recorded reports using BWF Wave format. Note. Existing Report-IT customers that have purchased Unlimited Live Time automatically get Report-IT Professional for FREE.
Upgrade your current 2.2 version of Report-IT to Report-IT Live today via your App Store app on your iPhone. Register (from within Report-IT) to receive an additional 2 hours of FREE Live Time and access to promotional offers and important information when available.

Report-IT Live 3.0.3 has been released for upgrade/purchase from the Apple App Store.

This version brings the following features to Report-IT Live:
  • Report-IT Live now has the ability to AudioCopy and AudioPaste between other supported iPhone Apps and thus provide Report-IT Live a huge set of audio tools to work with such as non-linear editors and effects processors. See MAPI AudioCopy and Intua Pasteboard sites for a full list of compatible iPhone Apps. You can now choose what suits you best from an extensive set of tools provided by other App developers.
  • Report-IT Live now supports importing & exporting Reports from & to Report-IT Enterprise Edition. This allows for a recording (offline or while connected) from either the Live or Enterprise Edition of Report-IT to be used by each other. Perfect for those who generally use Report-IT Live, but have the need to also contribute a particular piece to one of the many large broadcasters around the world currently utilising Report-IT EE.
  • You can now use Bluetooth audio devices that can be paired with an iPhone for audio input/output. Please refer to your preferred manufacturers site for details as to whether a device can be paired to an iPhone and what profiles/audio quality is supported when paired.
  • FTP functionality has been improved to provide detailed upload progress information as well as auto-resume (where supported by your FTP server) to cater for less reliable networks.
  • A workflow improvement has been added to allow an immediate FTP of a simultaneous record while connected upon disconnection. E.g. to allow the pristine copy of a recording to be uploaded immediately to the studio following a live broadcast.
  • Many performance enhancements and improvements to enhance your Report-IT Live experience.
